"Night, Night Mommy"

I believe that these are three of the sweetest words... The other night Ben and I were doing our nightly bedtime routine with Lydia. He had just finished praying for her, and I sang to her and then put her into bed. As I was leaving the room she says... "night, night mommy" My heart melted!!! It's the first time she has said "night night" followed by my name. It might not be a big deal to anyone else, but to me it meant the whole world. It's so fun to really start seeing her learn and grow into this precious little girl. I just had to share that sweet tid-bit! This is a picture of Lydia one night when Ben and I went in her room to cut off her air and open her windows this is what we found...

A Day in the Life...

This pretty much sums up what life looks like at the Parmer house. We have a lot of fun!!! Thomas and I right before his last feeding of the day, Lydi trying on her daddy's hat (she is obsessed with hats), the last one is of Lydi reading to her brother!

8 week stats

I just thought I'd give everyone a little update on Thomas. We took him for his 2 month check-up on Tuesday morning. (here in P.R. you take them to the doctor every month for the first year) He is doing great! He weighed in at a whopping 13lbs 13oz. I think that is what Lydia weighed when she was four months old. Anyway, he is thriving, and I am so thankful! He also had his first six hour night this week. I fed him at 10:30, and then I didn't hear a peep out of him until 4:30!!! It wasn't the same last night, but that's OK we'll take what we can get! I am still only getting up with him once, so I'm not complaining. We're thankful that he's healthy, and Lydi is too! She also had to get two follow-up shots, and she did really well. Again, I am very thankful for good medical care for our kiddos!

First Day at Church

Well, we decided that it was time for the four of us to make our first appearance at church. Ben has gone some without me and the kids, and I've gone once without he and Lydia (before Thomas was born). It's sad to say that it's been 8 weeks, and today was our first time to attend a service with all of us together. We didn't make it through the entire service, but we did last at least through all of the worship time which lasts for about an hour. I am pretty proud of the Parmers! We had a very relaxing Sunday, and I think we'll attempt it again next week. This is a picture of Thomas once we got home, I just think he is so handsome!

He's too cool...

While Lydi was taking her nap the other day, I decided to have a photo shoot with Thomas. I thought he looked super cool in these sunglasses, so I wanted to share. He is growing so much, and I can't believe he will be 8 weeks old tomorrow!

A Few of My favorite things...

Lydi has definitely become attached to a few things... It's really sweet, but the only problem is that the blanket you see in the picture is really large! She carries it around all over the house, and she wants to have it wherever she goes. The other things that she loves are her new hat from our neighbors, her monkey, and of course her "pappy"(pacifier). Her "pappy" isn't in the picture, because she only has it when she sleeps, and she keeps it in her bed (most of the time).

Lydi will be 19 months old in the next couple of weeks. It's really hard to believe that our little baby is now a toddler! I am loving this age, even though it definitely has its challenges. Any one have any advice on how to deal with your toddler throwing themselves in the floor when they are told "no?" Just wondering...

I wanted to post some new pics of Lydia because she is growing up so fast. I only thought it was appropriate to include some of her most beloved things in the pictures.

Thank You!

Saying "Thank You" is simply not enough to show our appreciation to the best grandparents in the world!!! We recently had the last set of grandparents visit us, and it has been such a blessing for each and everyone to visit! We are truly thankful for all of your help! Each one of you played a very important role as we welcomed our little boy into this world, so I want to thank you each personally for the specific blessing that you were to us during this time.

Grandmother and Grandaddy - You were here to support us as we pulled out of the parking lot and headed to the hospital. You were there when we came home with our sweet baby boy. Thank you for your patience not only with us (since you were here with me for the last week of my pregnancy:), but also your patience with our new home. I know it was hard for you to see us walk through our hospital experience, but because you were home with Lydia it made it so much easier for us!

NeNe- You truly helped us as you spent time keeping Lydi occupied, so I could recover and Ben could return full-time to work. It was so fun to see you play with her! She really loves playing with her NeNe. Thank you for coming down here and leaving your family at home, so you could serve us. We are very grateful!

PawPaw and MawMaw - You guys came at a great time, and I am so thankful you were here because I was able to get out and enjoy spending time with you here in our new home. You helped so much as we traveled around. I'm not sure I can manage two kids without you guys. Thank you for taking Lydi to the pool! She loved it! She is still going to her room and getting her blocks, as she comes down the hall she is yelling "PawPaw, MawMaw".

Lydi and Thomas are so blessed to have grandparents like you. We are also blessed to have parents like you. Each of you sacrificed to be able to be with us, and we are so glad you did! I hope that we will see each of you soon. Know that we think of you all the time, and Lydia asks about each of you. She loves calling you on the phone, and every now and then she will be having her own conversation on her "play" phone. Usually, when I ask her who she is talking to, it is one of you. We love and miss you all. Thanks again for all that you have done for us!

Are You KIdding Me? The Mirrors...Why

Nikki called me at work today. She had taken her father and step mother to Old San Juan to see the old city. When they got back to the car Nikki noticed that both of the side-view mirrors were pushed in. She pulled the mirror open to reveal the actual mirror was missing. The other mirror was in the same shape. Why would someone steal the mirrors? Who knows? It could have been worse. I feel like I could write a book with cultural stories of our White Minivan. I'll add this one to the list...

Iguana have some fun?

I saw this little outfit at Old Navy and I had to get it. One cool thing about life here in Puerto Rico is that instead of squirrels in our backyard, we have iguanas!!! It's so cool to watch them. I need to post some pics of them, because they are incredible creatures. We have several that live in the trees right behind our apartment, and every once in a while they will come up closer in our yard. So, when I saw this outfit that said "iguana have some fun?" I knew he had to have it. Since he is more Puerto Rican than the rest of us, and growing up with iguanas in his backyard will be very normal for him.

Little Ben #2

Well, while we were in the hopsital I thought I saw a glimmer of hope that our son might look a little bit like his mommy. You can see for yourself that as Thomas grows he looks more and more like Ben! I think it's safe to say I am not the one with the dominant genes!!!

Noodles!

Our little girl is crazy about noodles!!! I decided last week that I would let Lydi dig in at lunch time and have some spaghetti. Needless to say we went straight to the bath tub right afterwards! This is the face she makes now when we have the camera, and we say "Hey, Lydi smile at mommy."

So Happy Together!

Well, I was finally successful. Here is a pic of our kiddos; together! There were about two good pictures out of 30, but still we got a couple of good ones. She loves holding her little brother, and she doesn't like to hear him fuss at all. If he's not happy, Lydi will say "hold baby", or if he's in his pack n' play, she'll say "out!" She's so funny because she doesn't realize how strong she is, and she wants to play with Thomas, but she has a hard time remembering to be gentle. The most recent interaction was Lydia wanting to share a book with Thomas, and she accidently bumped his head with the corner of the book, she instantly puts the book down, and very gently taps Thomas on the stomach and says "I sorry." It's so cute seeing her with him. When she gets a little older, she will definitely be our little mommy.

I will get more pictures up soon, we have been trying to take some every week. It's just a matter of me having time to sit down and put them on line. So, keep looking for new pics and an update.
